Winemaking notes: 95% Merlot & 5% Cabernet Franc from 35-year-old vines from an 8-7ha vineyard on limestone and clay soils. “The viticultural regime is double Guyot and Guyot. Simple pruning and leaf plucking by machine, then machine harvesting. Vinification using traditional methods in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Manual cap punching, and aging in French oak barrels.”

Tasting note: the Bécot was medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of violet, rose petal potpourri, black cherry, cassis, graphite, leather, earth and sage leaf. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, medium tannin, high alcohol, medium body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of violet, black cherry, cassis, blackberry, licorice, anise, oak, cream, eucalyptus, mint and tobacco leaf. Drink now through 2031, this wine is very good: 9.1/10.
