14.5% abv, Montrichard Val de Cher, Jon-David Headrick Selections, imported by European Cellars LLC, Charlotte, NC. Cork closure: composite. Biodynamic calendar: flower day.
Winemaking notes: 100% Cot (Malbec) grown on clay-topped deep chalk soils of south and southeast exposure from 2.5 hectares of 50-year-old vines. The grapes are destemmed and hand sorted for quality and fermented with native yeast in vat with hand punch downs for six weeks and aged in concrete tank.
Tasting note: the Touraine Cot is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of lavender, blueberry, grilled peaches, fig, tobacco and tarragon leaf. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium tannins, high alcohol, medium+ body, pronounced intensity and a medium finish with flavors of hibiscus, red plum, blueberry, black currant, grilled peach, tobacco, tarragon and fennel. Drink now through 2028, this wine is very good: 9.4/10. Not your average Malbec; this was fresh and very alive with bright and dark fruit!
