13% abv, Jacky & Jean-Philippe Blot, Bourgueil, sourced direct from the domaine. Cork closure: natural. Biodynamic calendar: flower day.

Winemaking notes: 100% Cabernet Franc, organically-farmed, from 70+-year-old vines in this small south-facing vineyard with thin limestone soils in the middle of a slope. The grapes were hand-harvested, de-stemmed, and fermented using natural yeast and aged in 20% new French oak barrels.

Tasting note: the Bourgueil Rouge is deep garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ with aromas of violet, blueberry, damson, tobacco, cocoa powder, musk, leather, and green pepper. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium tannin, medium alcohol, medium body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium finish with flavors of violet, blueberry, black currant, animal musk, amber oil, Turkish tobacco, leather, dried apricot, dried sage, oregano leaf and a touch of white pepper. Drink now through 2028, this Bourgueil from the Touraine region of the Loire Valley is very good: 9.3/10. This is a touch natty and has some brett, but it’s tastefully done and has a wonderful core of fruit.
