Winemaking notes: 100% Pinot Noir from a half hectare plot replanted in 2002 in a vineyard of calcareous clay soils. 40% whole cluster fruit is given a cold soak of a few days and fermented on the skins for a couple of weeks before aging in 228L barrels for 13 months followed by three months in vat following assemblage of the barrels.

Winemaking notes: the Chamirey Mercurey is deep garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of lavender, violet, black cherry, black plum, cassis, vanilla, cinnamon, forest floor, wax, sage and oregano leaf. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, medium-minus tannins, high alcohol, medium body, pronounced flavor intensity and a long finish with flavors of lavender, violet, cassis, black cherry, mulberry, licorice, cedar, earth and oregano leaf. Drink now through 2027, this Premier Cru Mercurey from the Côte Chalonnaise of Bourgogne is good: 8.9/10.
