13% abv, Verdigny, imported by Skurnik Wines, New York, NY.

If wine is poetry, then Sancerre is my Rimbaud or William Blake. Gorgeously aromatic and nuanced Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are produced in these hills of the upper Loire’s Cher department and give so much delight to what the Loire Valley is known for; wines with balance and immediate enjoyability.

Isabelle Garrault is a producer who employs sustainable farming and reserves her 50+ year-old vines for the rolling hill villages of Verdigny and Sury-en-Vaux for the ‘Les Grands Mont’ cuvée of 100% Sauvignon Blanc. The resulting wine is fermented with native yeast and tank aged for a few months on the fine lees prior to bottling.

The 2017 is a medium lemon in color with a clean nose of medium intensity: aromas of peach, wet stones, lemon, tangerine and grapefruit. This wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium body, a medium finish and medium+ flavor intensity with notes of lemongrass, gooseberry, and pink grapefruit. Drink now, this wine is good: 8.9/10.
