13.5% abv, Pierre-Marie Chermette, Saint Vérand, imported by Fass Selections, Irvine, CA. Cork closure: synthetic. Biodynamic calendar: leaf day.
Winemaking notes: 100% Gamay Noir from three vineyard sites in Moulin à Vent Cru: Rochgrès, Roche Noir and La Rochelle, about 4.5 hectares in total. The grapes are whole cluster fermented and half of the cuvée is done in carbonic maceration for 12 days on the skins in vat with daily pump-overs, and the wine is aged half in large vats and half in small oak barrels, mostly used.
Tasting note: the Vissoux was medium garnet in color with a clean nose of pronounced intensity with aromas of elderflower, jasmine, hibiscus, rose petal potpourri, rose hip tea, plum, Gogi berry and sage leaf. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, medium tannin, medium alcohol, medium-minus body, medium+ flavor intensity and medium finish with flavors of elderflower, hibiscus, blueberry, elderberry, damson, granite and clay stone, and fresh sage leaf and thyme. Drink now through 2025, this wine is very good: 9.1/10.
