14% abv, Bonny-Sur-Loire, imported by Classified Wine Imports, Houston, TX. Cork closure: composite. Biodynamic calendar: flower day.
Winemaking notes: 70% Pinot Noir & 30% Gamay Noir from the 2.5 hectares of vines grown on clay and silica topped limestone soils. The grapes are 10% whole cluster and the cuvée is aged in tank.
Tasting note: the Coteaux de Giennois is medium garnet in color with a bright ruby hue and a clean nose of medium intensity with aromas of rose petals, carnation, fresh cherry, kirsch, wax and cinnamon sticks. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, medium tannin, high alcohol, medium body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium finish with flavors of rose hip tea, red currant, cranberry, cherry, kirsch, cinnamon, and a touch of fresh sage and smoke. Drink now, this wine is good: 8.8/10. I was impressed by the ripeness here, and a very clean and forward punch of fruit, but this wine quite out of balance and a touch simple, but it’s certainly good and very enjoyable.
