12.5% abv, Famille Boisset, Prémeaux-Prissey, imported by Boisset USA, St Helena, CA. Cork closure: natural. Biodynamic calendar: root day.
Winemaking notes: 100% Chardonnay from vines planted in the 1980s and 1990; an enclosed vineyard in the ‘Le Village’ climat. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically since 1999. The wine is fermented with native yeast in stainless steel and oak bars and the wine is aged in custom Allier and Cîteaux French oak barrels (37% new) for 16 months and an additional three months in tank.
Tasting note: the Vougeot Blanc is medium gold in color with a clean nose of pronounced intensity with aromas of mayflower, jasmine, lilac, orange blossom, apricot, marmalade, mandarine, hazelnut, cream and spearmint. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium alcohol, full body, pronounced flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of lilac, hawthorn, oleander, apricot, yellow peach, marmalade, yogurt, cheese, vanilla, hazelnut, tarragon and mint. Drink now through 2028, this Chardonnay from the Côte de Nuits of Bourgogne is very good: 9.4/10. Still very youthful and with very good balance and flavor concentration and complexity!
