14% abv, Eric Santier, Ligré, imported by Michael Corso Selections, Oak Park, IL. Cork closure: natural. Biodynamic calendar: leaf day.
Winemaking notes: 100% Cabernet Franc from a single walled vineyard dating back to medieval times. The vines are aged 60-70 years, grown on clay and silt soils, and the wine is fermented with native yeast in fiberglass tank and aged in tank for 10 months in tank and foudre.
Tasting note: the Chinon is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium intensity with aromas of carnation, rose hip, raspberry, blueberry, cocoa powder, tobacco, green pepper, olive tampenade, black tea and mint. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acidity, medium tannin, high alcohol, medium body, medium flavor intensity and a medium finish with flavors of raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, green pepper, fennel, tea and mint. Drink now through 2026, This Cabernet Franc from the Touraine region of the Loire Valley is good: 9.0/10. This was very clean and there was a nice ripeness but the structure was a little limp and the balance a touch off, a nice effort from a warm vintage.
