Winemaking note: 85% Merlot & 15% Cabernet Sauvignon from a vineyard of 5 hectares on a sandy plateau of clay soils known as Bel Aire on the right bank of the river Dordogne just outside St. Emilion. The vines are certified environmentally friendly (HVE3), and the wine is fermented with natural yeast in stainless steel and the cuvée is aged 50% in barrels in 50% in tank for 20 months. Limited to 3000 cases produced annually.
Tasting note: the Fronsac is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of violet, red currant, morello cherry, red plum, dark cherry, caramel, cedar, lightly roasted coffee beans and eucalyptus. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, high tannin, tannin, high alcohol, medium body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of red currant, red licorice, caramel, dried tobacco, crème de cocoa, graphite, cedar, mint and rosemary. Drink now, this Left Bank Bordeaux from Fronsac is very good: 9.2/10.
