Winemaking notes: 100% Pinot Noir from the 7.53-hectare walled vineyard in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis has clay and limestone soil. The vines are planted in a unique north-south orientation with many vines over 60 years of age. The wines was aged in new French oak barrels for 20 months.
Tasting note: the Clos de Tart Grand Cru is deep garnet in color with a clean nose of pronounced intensity with aromas of rose petal potpourri, rose hip, stewed cherry, cassis, crème de violet, pomegranate, leather, cedar, toasted chestnut, cinnamon stick, porcini mushroom, cheese rind, thyme and spearmint. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, high tannin, medium alcohol, medium+ body, medium+ flavor intensity and a long finish with flavors of dried rose petals, dried cherry, cranberry, pomegranate, leather, cardamom, black tea, cedar, black truffle, wild game, sage, anise and wintermint. Drink now through 2029, this Grand Cru Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits of Bourgogne is very good: 9.4/10.
