13% abv, Famille Boisset, Premeaux-Prissey, imported by Boisset USA, St-Helena, CA. Cork closure: natural. Biodynamic calendar: fruit day.

100% Pinot Noir from two plots in the Clos: Clos Vougeot ‘Montiottes Hautes’ aka ‘Heritier’, a 1.052 ha east-facing parcel at the top of the Clos de Vougeot, on a slight slope (to the left of the alley leading to the château) from vines planted in 1946/1954/1981/1993/1994. And Clos Vougeot ‘Baudes Saint-Martin’aka ‘Ponnelle’ a 0.3617 ha east-facing parcel at the bottom of the Clos de Vougeot, from vines planted in 1985/1986. The vines are grown on a very silty and pebbly calcareous soil, the vines are certified biodynamic with some clones and massale selection, the grapes were fermented with natural yeast and 50% whole cluster and aged in 35% new French oak for 16 months.

Tasting note: the Clos de Vougeot is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of violet, black cherry, cassis, orange zest, chestnut, hazelnut, cream, cardamom, tarragon, sage, thyme, and a touch of leather and white pepper. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acidity, medium+ tannin, medium alcohol, medoum+ flavor intensity and a long finish with flavors of violet, pomegranate, black cherry, cassis, black currant, hazelnut, cream, orange peel, white pepper and tarragon leaf. Drink now though 2031, this Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits is outstanding: 9.6/10.  Very youthful and lovely still with a punch of primary and secondary flavor intensity and an outstanding balance and complexity, a wine of rare pedigree that shows how truly special this often maligned grand cru is in context.
