Winemaking notes; 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc., average age of vines 35 years. Classified third growth grand cru. 17 hectares under vine on a gravel and clay soil. The wine is aged in 60% new French oak after being fermented and taken through malolactic in 200-liter tank.
Tasting note: the Langoa Barton is deep garnet in color with a clean nose of pronounced intensity with aromas of primrose, rose water, red currant, black currant, mulberry, crème de cassis, cedar, tobacco, caramel, pencil shavings, eucalyptus and mint. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium+ tannin, high alcohol, medium+ body, pronounced flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of primrose, red currant, black cherry, red plum, kirsch, red licorice, cocoa powder, crème de caramel, tobacco leaf, rosewood, bramble, vanilla, iron, and fresh spearmint. Drink now through 2040, this Left Bank Bordeaux from Saint-Julien is very good: 9.5/10.
