Winemaking notes: 90% Tannat w/ Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Sauvignon from 20-100-year-old vines planted on hillside vineyard known as Pied de Côte de Saint-Emilion, known for yellow and white clay over limestone. Aged in 40% new French oak for over a year.
Tasting note: the Madiran is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium intensity with aromas of violet, lavender, myrtle, blueberry, gogi berry, mulberry, damson, cream, hazelnut, graphite and mint. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium+ tannin, high alcohol, medium body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of violet, lavender, myrtle, boysenberry, blackberry, morello cherry, cream, cedar, hazelnut, cherry pipe tobacco, herbs de Provence and a touch of graphite. Drink now through 2033, this Madiran blend from the Gascogne region of Southwest France is very good: 9.4/10.
