Winemaking notes: 95% Chardonnay, 4% Pinot Blanc & 1% Pinot Gris, from the 2.29ha walled vineyard. The vines are grown on very calcareous white earth soils. The vines were replanted in the 1980s and 1990s and the terroir is east-facing. The grapes are gently pressed, fermented in open-to French oak fermenter and aged in custom cîteaux barrels (30% new) for 14 months.
Tasting note: the Vougeot Blanc is medium amber gold in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of acacia, honeysuckle, peony, beeswax, dried, apricot, gingerbread, cream, brûlée, flan, saffron and fennel. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, medium alcohol, medium+ body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of apricot, yellow peach, peach preserves, honeydew, cream, vanilla, ginger, marmalade, custard, flan, saffron and mint. Drink now through 2028, this wine is outstanding: 9.6/10.
