Winemaking notes: 60% Grenache Noir & 40% Syrah grown on clay-limestone soils, hand-harvested, partially de-stemmed, and macerated. The wine is pumped over for three weeks before the juice is drained off the skins and aged in tank for the winter.
Tasting note: the Cassis Rouge is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of violet, black currant, black plum, graphite, smoked game, bacon fat, nag champa, menthol and schist. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, high tannin, medium alcohol, medium body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of violet, Japanese plum, black currant, black licorice, bacon fat, smoke, white pepper, cedar, fig and herbs de Provence. Drink now through 2032, this wine is outstanding: 9.6/10.
