13.5% abv, Famille Boisset, Nuits-St-Georges, imported by Boisset USA, St-Helena, CA. Cork closure: natural. Biodynamic calendar: fruit day.
Winemaking notes: 100% Pinot Noir from the Les Arvelets vineyard just north of the village on a steep northern slope and southern exposure. Bring near the Combe to the valley, this terroir is very stony with clay-limestone soils and alluvial and silt. The age of the vines is 45-years-old and the grapes were hand harvested and de-stemmed before fermentation in open-top French oak fermenters for 32 days. The cap was punched down four times before the wine was taken to battle for 16 months (35% new oak).
Tasting note: the Pommard Premier Cru is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of hawthorn, violet, black cherry, cherry liqueur, crème de cassis, sandalwood, hazelnut, and currant leaf. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, medium tannin, medium alcohol, medium+ body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of violet, pomegranate, raspberry, black cherry, cassis, hazelnut, cedar, star anise, sage and peppermint. Drink now through 2030, this wine is very good: 9.3/10.
