Winemaking notes: 100% Syrah from 80+-year-old vines on the Sainte-Epine hill. The wine is fermented using native yeast and is aged in mostly older French oak barrels for 14 months.
Tasting note: the Saint-Joseph Rouge is deep garnet in color with hints of purple on the rim and a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of violet, lavender, blackberry, boysenberry, black plum, smoke, pepper and garrigue. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, medium tannin, medium alcohol, medium body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of violet, boysenberry, black plum, black currant, damson, fig, wax, all spice, cardamom, pepper, sage and garrigue. Drink now, this Syrah from the Northern Rhône is very good: 9.3/10.
