The domaine du Moulié is a small certified-organic domaine in the SouthWest of France, run by two sisters–Lucie and Michele–the property produces some gorgeous traditional wines from the Tannat grape. The 2017 Domaine du Moulié Madiran Tannat spent 5 weeks in fermentation and rested gently in small French oak barrels for a year. The result is balanced and age-worthy, fresh and powerful . . .
Tasting note: this wine is deep garnet in color with a clean nose of medium intensity with aromas of rosehip, fresh red cherry, vanilla, cedar and tobacco. On the palate this wine is dry with high acid, medium+ tannin, medium alcohol, medium+ body, pronounced flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of redcurrant, pomegranate, red plum, strawberry jam, vanilla, cocoa powder, mint, and oregano. There is a real balance here, farmed by nice complexity and serious enough intensity and length; this wine is very good. Drink now or through 2032. 9.3/10.
