13.5% abv, Gauthier-Lhomme, Reugny, imported by European Cellars LLC, Charlottes NC. Cork closure: natural. Biodynamic calendar: leaf day.

Winemaking notes: “100% Chenin Blanc grown on silex (flint) soils, and produced in the tendre (off-dry) style. Chestnut is favored for the barrels although more and more wine is being vinified in tank these days. Indigenous yeasts start fermentation and there is little manipulation. Heavy sorting at harvest and indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation. Aged in tank for at least 12 months before release.”

Tasting note: the Viking Vouvray is medium gold with a clean nose of medium minus intensity with aromas orange blossom, jasmine, ripe red apple, honey and mango. On the palate this wine is off-dry with medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, medium flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of magnolia blossom, marmalade, satsuma, honeycomb, ginger and almond paste. This Vouvray showed some nice balance and length. Good: 8.8/10. Drink now.
