Having rather enjoyed some German Sylvaner in the classic bocksbeutel, many moons ago, I jumped at the chance to try one from west of the Rhine River. As far as Sylvaner goes in Alsace, it is not considered one of the noble varieties (Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Muscat) but can produce a thirst-quenching wine, none the less. “My music is flowing and light resonating with the sound of flutes and tambrourines,” is what I found on the vinsdealsace.com trade site. I’m not sure about all that . . . but Sylvaner can certainly have a nice steely acid and attractive aromas of tart apple. The cuvée name for this wine means ‘spring bouquet’ which is apt enough.

Tasting Note: Pale Lemon color, with a clean nose of medium intensity; aromas of lemon, apple blossom, acacia, gardenia, honeysuckle and thyme.
On the pallet, she’s dry with medium plus acid, medium alcohol, medium body, medium flavor intensity, and a medium finish. A good wine for drinking now. A bit phenolic overall as the finish carries but clean and pleasant. Good, 8.3/10
