13% abv, Chavanay, imported by Rosenthal Wine Merchant, New York, NY. Cork closure: natural. Biodynamic calendar: root day.
Winemaking notes: 100% Syrah, grown on granite soils and and 16 months in barrique.
Tasting note: the 2017 ‘Pierres Sèches’ is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium intensity with aromas of violet, red cherry, plum, blackberry and a hint of smoke. This wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium body, medium tannin, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium finish with flavors of violet, lavender, dark plum, bacon fat, pepper and a hint to anise. There is some nice balance here but this does lack body and intensity compared to previous vintages. Drink now or through 2028, this wine is good: 8.9/10.
