Winemaking notes: grown on clay-limestone and silty clay soils and certified agriculture biologique, Deiphine is planted to 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc over 40 hectares with vines of average 33 years of age; the wine is produced by eonologist Michel Rolland and Bruno Lacoste. The 2015 vintage was destemmed, double sorted and macerated for 30 days before aging in 25% new oak for 12 months.
Tasting note: the Daupine Fronsac is deep garnet in color with a clean nose of pronounced intensity with aromas of violet, blackberry, back currant, cedar, tobacco and graphite, fennel and lavender. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, high tannins, high alcohol, full body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium finish with flavors of black cherry, Japanese plum, raspberry, bell pepper, Serrano, graphite, vanilla, clove and eucalyptus. Drink now or through 2036, this wine is very good: 9.4/10.
