13% abv, Sazilly, imported by Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA. Cork closure: natural. Biodynamic calendar: flower day.

Winemaker note: 100% Chenin Blanc grown on limestone and clay in a 3-hectare vineyard site. Barrel-fermented in 30% new French oak with battonage for six months before assemblage and bottling.

Tasting note: the 2017 ‘La Plante Martin’ is pale gold in color with a clean nose of pronounced intensity with aromas of orange blossom, citrus, pear and ginger. On the palate this wine is dry with high acid, medium body, medium alcohol, pronounced flavor intensity, and a medium+ finish with flavors or lilac, dandelion tea, honey, satsuma, guava, and red ginger. The flavor here are punchy and defined and the intensity and finish something to be admired when assessing Loire Valley Chenin wines. This lesser known village for white wine and well-known producer of red wines has delivered something truly special. Drink now through 2027, this wine is outstanding: 9.6/10.
