12.5%, Pierre Chainier, Amboise. Imported by Cape Classics, New York, NY.

As often, Chinon is a wine of immediate pleasure. 100% Cabernet Franc for the rosé and red wines of this appellation in the Touraine district of the Loire Valley, the 2017 Paul Buisse is a straightforward entry-level wine from south-facing vineyards on the Vienne River. Sustainable farming is practiced on the estate’s vines which are grown on flint and clay soils over the yellow chalk tuffeau bedrock. The 2017 wine was aged for one year in stainless steel tanks before being bottled.

Tasting note: Medium ruby color with a clean nose of medium intensity: aromas of raspberry, pomegranate, rose petals, capsicum and tobacco. On the palette this wine is dry with high acid, medium body, medium tannins, and a medium plus finish with flavors of black currant, red plum and dried tobacco leaves. Drink now, she has an impressive balance and length on the finish despite the low abv, very good 9/10.
