13.5% abv, Vion, imported by Fass Selections, Irvine, CA. Cork closure: composite. Biodynamic calendar: leaf day.

Winemaking notes: 100% Syrah from 35-year-old vines, sustainably-farmed, hand-harvested, destemmed and aged half in small French oak barrels and half in large oak casks for 10 months. While not as well-recognized as the Rhône Valley proper, the Ardèche IGP region has some very good vineyards lands mostly along the Cévennes Mountains.

Tasting note: the Jacouton Syrah is deep purple in color with a clean nose of pronounced intensity with aromas of violet, smoke, blackberry, mulberry,  roasted game and pepper. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium tannin, medium alcohol, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium finish with flavors of violet, sour cherry, grilled peaches, red plum, game, leather, smoke, sage leaf and white pepper. Drink now through 2027, this wine is very good: 9.4/10.
