14% abv, Myranne, imported by BBR Imports, Houston, TX. Biodynamic calendar: fruit day.
Winemaking notes: 50% Grenache Noir and 50% century-old vines did Carignan. The Grenache is fermented in the skins, and the Carignan is fermented under carbonic maceration and the assemblage is aged in French oak for 10 months.
Tasting note: the Minervois Rouge is deep garnet in color with clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of potpourri, date, Turkish fig, Japanese plum, smoke, honey, game and leather. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, high tannin, high alcohol, full body, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium finish with flavors of violet, dried cherry, blackberry, Nag champa, leather, pepper, fennel herb, anise. Drink now, this wine is good but fading: 8.7/10. There is some great complexity here, but this wine has lost a lot of freshness and suffers from a clunky balance.
