15% abv, Tain l’Hermitage, imported by Fass Selextioks Inc., Irvine, CA. Cork closure: natural. Biodynamic calendar: fruit day.

Winemaking notes: ‘Vin Biologique’ (with a FR-BIO-01 seal) from a blend of 25% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 25% Mourvèdre & 25% Carignan from very old vines—90+-year-old vineyard. Georges is a négotiant and well-known wine merchant in Tain with an extensive knowledge of Rhône wines; he began leveraging his relationships to source finished wines from cellars throughout the valley for his own label.

Tasting note: the Cairanne is deep garnet in color with a clean nose of medium intensity with aromas of lavender, violet, strawberry, mulberry, black licorice, tobacco, horse sweat, and a hint of tar and dried sage. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, medium tannin, high alcohol, medium body and a long finish with flavors of lavender, black plum, Turkish fig, cocoa powder, tobacco, leather, toffee and garrigue. Drink now or through 2026, this wine is very good: 9.2/10. This wine is a bit natty with some noticeable but pleasant brett on the nose and palate, and there’s a lovely complexity here and loads of interesting charm.
