Winemaking notes: 100% Pinot Noir: “Vinification is traditional in line with all the other wines of the estate, but maturation takes place in new oak barrels from Nièvre (25%).The 40- to-50-year-old vines, are located in the hamlet of Fixey, connected to Fixin; one of the plots in the locality of Foussottes is right next to the magnificent 10th century Saint-Antoine church. The other plot at La Place is located on the edge of the Grands Crus wine route. Acquired in 2006, the total area is 0.5682 hectare.”
Tasting note: the Fixin ‘La Place’ is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of violet, cassis, blackberry, cranberry hazelnut, chestnut, forest floor, tobacco, dried sage and a hint of mushroom and tomato leaf. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium tannin, medium alcohol, medium body, medium+ flavor inteisty and a medium+ finish with flavors of rose hip, violet, pomegranate, red plum, leather, red licorice and a hint of oregano and white pepper. Drink now or through 2029, this wine is very good: 9.4/10.
