Winemaking notes: 100% Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc from the steep (50% incline) ‘La Chapelle’ vineyard on Mont Brouilly with blue metamorphic granite soils. Bush-vine trained, the Gamay clusters are whole-bunch fermented, macerated on the skins and stems for 15 days, and the wine is aged in large oak foudres.
Tasting note: the Thivin ‘La Chapelle’ is deep garnet in color with a clean nose of medium+ intensity with aromas of acacia, jasmine, black plum, blueberry, cranberry and cedar. On the palate this wine is dry with medium acid, medium+ tannin, medium alcohol, medium+ body, pronounced flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of jasmine, violet, rose hip, sour cherry, mirabel plum, blood orange, cranberry, tobacco and iron. drink now through 2032, this wine is outstanding: 9.6/10.
