Winemaking notes: 100% Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc planted on unique pink granite soils with Piedmonte stones and sandstone sediment. The vines are between 40-60 years of age, and are pruned in the bush-vine goblet method and are sustainably-farmed. 2016 was a late harvest in early October, and the grape bunches were 80% de-stemmed and punched down for over three weeks. 80% of the cuvée was aged in tank, and 20% in small French oak barrels from the Tronçais forest of a medium toast.

Tasting note: the Mommessin ‘Les Charmes’ is medium garnet in color with a clean nose of medium intensity with aromas of lilac, rose petals, red plum, boysenberry, wax, wet stones and red licorice. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium+ tannin, medium alcohol, medium+ flavor intensity and a medium+ finish flavors of hibiscus, carnation, wax, red licorice, sour cherry, damson, wood spice, spearmint, and touch of cocoa powder and kirschwasser. Drink now through 2026, this wine is outstanding: 9.6/10.
