Winemaking notes: One the oldest estate sun the Médoc, a formed monastery, founded in 1661, today the property is 51 hectares just by second-growth Château Montrose and is planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot over remarkably rare blue clay soils. The 2014 vintage was aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak.
Tasting note: the Meyney is deep garnet in color with a clean nose of pronounced intensity with aromas of rose water, black currant, boysenberry, caramel, tobacco, eucalyptus, bay leaf and mint. On the palate this wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium tannin, high alcohol, medium body, pronounced flavor intensity and a medium+ finish with flavors of rose hip, hibiscus, red currant, graphite, lead, caramel, cream, black tea, sorrel, and eucalyptus. Drink now through 2038, this wine is very good: 9.4/10.
